Garage Door Safety Check

It’s not talked about much, but it is a good idea to check the safety features of your garage door periodically.  Now that summer is in full swing, there is probably a lot more traffic in and out of your garage.  My door goes up and down about 100 times a day for bikes, skateboards, balls and who knows what else those kids drag out to the driveway! Take a look at this great article from US Inspect to learn how to check your garage door.

Colorful Kitchen or Not?

Paint the Cabinets?

I’ve been working with one of my clients to prepare his home for sale and it is exhausting.  So many things to spruce up!  He invested in a lot of paint, but one thing we did not paint is the kitchen.  We decided to leave it very neutral and I’m glad we did. Check out this article from HouseLogic and find out more about how to create color in your kitchen.  If you would like a free home selling consultation, I would be happy to help!

The M-word…What you need to know.

Stop Mold in its Tracks

If you want to see people scram from a house, just say mold.  The M-word. Mold has really gotten a bad rap over recent years.  It can be dangerous, but not always.  It’s a natural living organism and we are surrounded by it at work, at home and at school.  I recently had an inspection report come back for a client that indicated there was a mold-like substance in the attic.  After further review, it was just muddy footprints on the rafters!  The work site for this particular home must have been muddy and someone stepped on the boards before they were installed. From the inspectors point of view it looked like mold and was worth further investigation.  Thankfully, it was not mold, but even it had been mold, we could have easily determined the cause of it and fixed it.  Mold can be remediated and should not necessarily be a deal breaker when you are house shopping.  Take a look at this article from the Spruce on how to clean mold from many surfaces.  If you are considering selling your home, I’d be happy to give you a free home valuation.

Love is in the Air!

I’ve seen buyers submit love letters to sellers with their offer, but I haven’t seen this before!  A friend of mine in Ohio recently sold her house and was equally surprised when she received a bouquet of flowers from the family buying her house. Obviously, my friend and her family have taken fantastic care of their home and the buyers are thrilled to continue loving on her house.  Such a sweet gesture!
